Barbara Serra

Barbara Serra is a bilingual journalist and author, with 25 years’ experience working for some of the world’s leading TV news networks.
She’s been a Sky News presenter since 2023, regularly anchoring the flagship evening programme ‘News at 10’ and the Press Preview. From 2006 to 2022 Serra presented the main European Newshour for Al Jazeera English, where she also reported from across Europe and the Middle East. She began her career at the BBC and in 2005 became the first second-language English presenter to anchor a flagship programme on British TV.
In 2019 Barbara Serra was made a Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy by the Italian President for her journalism.
Barbara is also a regular commentator on Italian media focusing on international current affairs. She writes the Substack newsletter “News with a foreign accent” which analyses the impact of using English as the global language on international journalism.
