After 19 years at Janus Henderson, Charlie Awdry (Co-Portfolio Manager of the Janus Henderson China Opportunities Fund and the Janus Henderson Horizon China Fund) has decided to take a career break. Charlie will leave the firm on 28 August and will be available to help with the transition of his responsibilities in the interim period.
May Ling Wee will assume the role of lead fund manager on both funds which she has managed, alongside Charlie, since 2015. Andrew Gillan, Head of Asia (ex-Japan) and I will continue to have strategic input into the funds.
The investment process will remain unchanged as May Ling has co-managed the funds for the last 4 years with Charlie. We are at final stages of a recruitment search to appoint a Co-Portfolio Manager on the funds to support May Ling and the China portfolio managers are supported by a team of 5 investment analysts and 4 other regional portfolio managers covering China and Asian markets.
Asian Equities remains a strategic priority for the firm, as we see continuous client interest into our products and we will continue to invest in our team. Our firm’s Equities teams include more than 175 investment professional and research team members and as at 31 December 2019 our Equities business has £154.0bn in assets under management.
We thank Charlie for his contribution to the growth of our Asian Equities business and wish him all the very best in his future endeavours.
As always, we thank you for the trust you have placed in Janus Henderson Investors.
Yours faithfully,
Alex Crooke
