Powerful environmental and social trends are going to transform the global economy over coming decades. Clients already place responsible investment at the heart of their portfolios. That is why Janus Henderson Investors has launched the Janus Henderson Horizon Global Sustainable Equity Fund. The fund has UCITS status, is denominated in USD ($) and domiciled in Luxembourg. It is registered for sale in various markets across Europe.

Hamish Chamberlayne is the lead portfolio manager and has managed the strategy since December 2011. The new fund will utilise the same investment approach as the existing UK domiciled Global Sustainable Equity OEIC.

At the heart of the approach is the belief that the best investment returns will be generated by those companies which provide solutions to environmental and social challenges. These companies should have attractive financial attributes such as persistent revenue growth and durable cash flows.

The team aims to outperform the market over the long-term through creating a differentiated global equity portfolio of the best sustainability ideas. The team’s investment approach is explicitly low carbon and by incorporating environmental, social and governance factors into their analysis they seek to construct a portfolio with a favourable risk profile.

Hamish Chamberlayne, Head of SRI, said:
“Today’s launch is a natural progression from the launch of the strategy in 1991. The defining issue of our time –climate change- will require us to transition to a low-carbon and sustainable economy, while maintaining the levels of productivity necessary to deliver goods and services. This is why we believe that an SRI approach should not compromise the potential to provide positive returns through a differentiated global equity portfolio of the best sustainability ideas. Our strategy is designed to invest in businesses that are strategically aligned with the environmental and social trends that are changing the shape of the global economy. ”

Ignacio de la Maza, Head of Continental Europe Wholesale & LatAm, said:
“We are excited to bring this proven global sustainable equity strategy in a form that has appeal to continental European domiciled clients. This strategy offers clients the opportunity to responsibly invest in the future solutions to environmental and social challenges.”
