Michael Contopoulos

Michael Contopoulos is Head of Multi-Asset Macro Investing at Janus Henderson Investors. He joined the firm in 2026 following Janus Henderson’s acquisition of Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC (RBA), where he served as deputy chief investment officer. In this role, Michael leads the team’s macro-driven multi-asset investment process, overseeing portfolio positioning and implementation while working with the Investment Committee on asset allocation decisions. Prior to joining RBA in 2020, Michael was chief investment strategist at Anchorage Capital from 2017. Earlier in his career, he held senior strategy and leadership roles at Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2004, most recently as head of high yield and leveraged loan strategy from 2012. He was a credit portfolio strategist with Credit Suisse First Boston from 2002 and began his career at Tudor Investment Corporation as a research analyst in 1999.

Michael received a BA degree in economics and political science from Columbia University and an MBA from New York University, Stern School of Business. He has 27 years of industry experience.
