Kris Bernie is a Portfolio Manager in the Global Short Duration & Liquidity Group at Kapstream Capital, a subsidiary of Janus Henderson Investors, which acquired Kapstream in 2015. In addition to portfolio management, he is responsible for macroeconomic research, asset allocation, and interest rate and foreign exchange trading. Prior to joining Kapstream in 2022, Kris was a portfolio manager for seven years at First Sentier Investors where he was a senior member of the Australian Fixed Income Team responsible for generating alpha across both the rates and credit spectrum in Australian and global markets and assisting in portfolio construction and design. Before that, he spent eight years in an institutional rates and credit sales role at National Australia Bank, covering central banks, banks, fund managers and state government authorities. Underpinning this was a research background, including market economist roles at National Australia Bank. He began his career in 1998 as a macroeconomic forecaster with the Commonwealth Department of the Treasury in Canberra.

Kris holds a first class bachelor of economics degree (Hons) in macroeconomics and econometrics from the University of Queensland and a graduate diploma in applied finance and investment from FINSIA. He has 26 years of financial industry experience.
