Legal Credit Strategy

Uncorrelated, senior-secured credit strategy focusing on an underbanked market – the legal industry. This is recourse lending, not litigation funding.

Overview

About this strategy

We believe legal credit offers a differentiated option to enhance and diversify portfolios. The strategy provides access to assets historically uncorrelated to traditional asset classes and the potential to capture above-market returns for senior-secured risk, resulting from structural inefficiencies in the legal industry. Typical investments are senior-secured, recourse loans to law firms and related companies, with conservative attachments and defined maturities.

The value of an investment and the income from it can fall as well as rise as a result of market and currency fluctuations and you may not get back the amount originally invested. Past performance does not predict future returns.

Glossary

Investment approach

Designed as a portfolio diversifier
Returns are driven by legal receivables, which are historically uncorrelated to financial markets, macroeconomic conditions, and geopolitical trends.

Seeks above-market returns
Structural inefficiencies in the legal industry allow potential for excess returns versus other senior-secured credit strategies.

Focus on income generation
Seeks to deliver (1) capital preservation and (2) income generation, with recurring cash flows that provide investors with regular distributions.

Glossary:
Recourse lending: involves loans structured to allow the lender to pursue repayment from the borrower's other assets or income if the collateral securing the loan is insufficient to satisfy the outstanding debt upon maturity or default.
