On 23 June 2025, the Boards of The European Smaller Companies Trust PLC ('ESCT') and European Assets Trust PLC ('EAT') were pleased to announce that they had agreed heads of terms on a proposed combination of the two companies. Both Boards are recommending to their respective shareholders that they support the resolutions set out in the circulars posted to shareholders on 9 September 2025.
The combination will create the largest constituent of the AIC European Smaller companies sector with a strong performance track record and continue to offer shareholders unique exposure to the European smaller companies space.
